Dining room
I cut a bunch of roses and put them around the house.
I had the last fish taco and a quesadilla for lunch. Remind me to stop buying flour tortillas, corn is superior. And cheaper.
I learned today that those wacky sideshow cars — the sedans with the giant wheels — are called donks. There are several of them in my neighborhood, one is a giant ad for Mickey’s Malt Liquor, another is a white Lexus with that says LEXUS in giant gold letters on the side. There’s another Lexus that has the Lexus logo styled a la that colored YSL one patterned all over it. A big brown 70s Cadillac.
Anyway. I am wondering if that “dum donk” song that I love [play] is not about booty after all. Or if the cars have something to do with ladies’ behinds. Also how I can convince anyone I know to go to the A-Trak/Little Sister show that’s coming up, it is going to be an absolute panic. I need more entertaining, entertainable friends.
Here’s my dining room, post-spring cleaning:
Foodie Thursday!
Some recipes I like that I was telling J. about at coffee yesterday:
Zucchini Crab Cakes. These are super delicious and EASY and healthy except for being fried, but that just makes them that much more tasty. Serve with Creole-style remoulade [there are a million ways to make this; I mix catsup, mayo, seedy mustard, cayenne, and whatever else to taste].
Beer pizza dough. Chad makes this once a week, he rolls out two doughs and we put our own toppings on. Mine usually has some or all of the following: pesto, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, fresh mozz, parmesan, prosciutto, garlic, olives, oregano and basil, red pepper flakes, whatever else is around. Here are some photos from Tuesday’s batch. Do not view on an empty stomach.
December 24: All snug in their beds
There’s an awesome reading of Night Before Christmas in Hemingway style as written by James Thurber on this podcast about 2/3 of the way through:
