The second hand store I went to was a bit more upscale then a thrift store...I think I'd call it a recycled goods store. I happened across a stack of vintage cookbooks from the '40s. |
The second hand store I went to was a bit more upscale then a thrift store...I think I'd call it a recycled goods store. I happened across a stack of vintage cookbooks from the '40s. Rick insisted that I buy the whole stack. Anyways, check this recipe out....this is an "ever popular brunch item for your gang"
Fluffy eggs nests
6 eggs
salt and pepper
6 sliced of hot buttered toast
seperate eggs, leaving each yolk in the shell until ready to use. Season whites with salt and pepper and beat until stiff enough to form sharp peaks. Heap onto toast and make a hollow in the center of each mound. SLip egg yolks into hollow, season and bake in moderate oven (350F) until white is browned and yolks are firm. Garnish with paprika and parsely.
Doesn't that sound wacky?

you need a scanner, if you don't have one. i got this little promotional recipes book from knox gelatin recently, more of a magazine than a book, and *man* some of the stuff in there is frightening. my favorite is this gelatin salad mold. and by salad, i mean salad, bits of lettuce and whatnot floating in this big round of jello. i keep threatening to make it for dinner if the kids don't obey me.
