I don't have a fireplace, but I have a lamp

I'm not a confident purchaser. I hummed and hawed over the lamp and finally asked her if I could buy it on a test run.

This is a picture of my favorite piece of furniture. A floor lamp. The base, just barely viewable in this picture, is made from teak. The lamp sits about three feet high. It came from my favorite little used furniture in the village a few blocks away. I befriended the owner when I first moved here. Now she calls me when something funky comes in that she thinks I'll like. "Hi G, I just got this teak piece in, I don't know what it is exactly...but it looks funky, you'd like it" (just for the record I didn't really want the green and brown gaudy 70's vase, but I was scared she would stop calling if I vetoed any of her suggestions...she's still calling). I'm not a confident purchaser. I hummed and hawed over the lamp and finally asked her if I could buy it on a test run. Could I possibly return it no questions asked? I knew the second I got it home that it was perfect...And best yet, the next day my boss went down to buy it (she calls him too) but I'd already scooped it up!

i still love that lamp. i think you should put a copy of the picture up somewhere where your boss will see it regularly, just to taunt him. that's what i'd do, if i had a boss, and if there was a place mutually accessible to us.
