Another fine lunch was had by all »
Mid-May is A-OK!
We were watching Rick Sebak's Sandwiches That You Will Like on PBS tonight, and it was making us very hungry, and it seemed like the perfect opportunity for another episode of Ladies (and Gents) Who Lunch.
Show up this Wednesday, May 14, at Pacific Coast Brewing Co., right next to the Marriott/convention center in lovely downtown Oakland (map), right around the corner from the 12th Street BART station.
Unless Wunderground is lying, it should be a perfectly gorgeous day, and we'll be out back on the patio.
Time: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. plenty of time to swing by on your lunch break, or dig in and enjoy all the extra time you have while you're looking for somewhere to take a lunch break from.
Sustenance: One fine lunch menu, a host of home brews, and a bevy of other...beverages.
Bring: yourself, cash, and at least one charming anecdote.
R.S.V.P. in the comments so we can save you a seat.
Feel free to share this invitation with your nearest and dearest, even if they're not quite Oaklanders.
Two quotes we may or may not discuss:
1. "Since the 1950's, American pop culture has grown dominant in the world. At the other end of this century Gertrude Stein, living in Paris, described this city, Oakland, California, as having no there there. Today I do not know any young Americans who dream of going to Paris to become writers, but I do know young Africans in Paris who take their cues from Oakland." Richard Rodriguez
2. "Straight from the West, Oakland is the best / Baby it's so fresh." Too $hort

Ok, I need way, way more notice than this. Do you think I'm just sitting here at my computer, checking mail, hoping someone will... Yeah, of course I'll be there. I'll bring my girlfriend, Alli, too.

Uh oh, look out, new sign - a big neon one saying NO, you have a MEETING, which could lead to EMPLOYMENT.
Next time. Unless it's during the day and I'm slaving away at a venerable digital effects house. Think happy thoughts that I will be!
